ETHIOPIA
REGION: SIDAMO
PROCESS: WASHED
ELEVATION: 1950-2200
GRADE: G2 (info below)
Grown at elevations of 1,550–2,200 meters, Sidamo coffee comes from one of Ethiopia’s three trademarked coffee regions, alongside Harrar and Yirgacheffe. Rich volcanic soil, abundant rainfall, and the lush landscape of the Great Rift Valley create ideal growing conditions. The result is an exceptional coffee shaped by high altitude, fertile land, and generations of tradition.
Ethiopian Coffee Grading System
Ethiopian coffees are graded from 1 to 5 based on quality and the number of defects in the beans. Grade 1 represents the highest quality with the fewest defects and the cleanest cup, while lower grades allow for more imperfections. The system helps ensure consistency, transparency, and exceptional standards in every lot. A grade 2 allows between four and 13 full defects per 300gr green sample. The cup typically has fruity and clean characteristics without any off-flavors.
